Dear Faithful America member,
For the first time ever, a United Methodist bishop has publicly committed that there will be no more trials for pastors who perform gay weddings in his region.
Last week, yet another pastor was scheduled to go on trial for officiating at the wedding of his gay son. But then his bishop, Martin McLee, committed to never to put another pastor on trial for officiating at a gay wedding.
This could be a watershed moment that finally puts an end to anti-gay discrimination in the country's largest mainline protestant denomination -- but only if other bishops join in taking the same courageous stand.
That's why we're launching a national petition calling on other United Methodist bishops to stop putting pastors on trial for performing gay weddings. We'll deliver it personally to bishops across the country, especially those who say they're opposed to the church's anti-gay rules, but haven't yet committed to stop these trials.
Thanks!
